CEBS students bring Christmas Cheer to the community
Students from Charles Edward Brooke Church of England Girls’ School in Camberwell have been out and about spreading Christmas cheer in the local community.
On 15th December 2009 Year 8 students visited the Black Elders Group at Yalding Healthy Living Centre, and Stone's End Day Centre and local primary schools, including St John the Divine. The students entertained their audiences with drama, dance, and musical performances they had prepared. Elderly residents also enjoyed a tea party with cakes made by the students before taking part in an entertaining quiz organised by the girls.
The inventive students had also created salt dough Christmas tree decorations which they gave to primary school pupils to paint and take home, spreading the Christmas cheer into all corners of the local community.
Meanwhile, Year 10 Hospitality and Catering students gave the elderly residents a variety of Christmas-themed cakes whilst Year 8 students sang Christmas carols with the elderly people they visited to round off an enjoyable afternoon of Christmas cheer.
Headteacher, Wendy Cooper said: “At Charles Edward Brooke, respect for others and showing that we can make a positive contribution to our community is very important. I am very proud of our students and glad to see everyone enjoyed spending time together at such a special time of year.”
